Maine’s Inn by the Sea Powered by Renewable, Clean Energy

11/1/2023

The transition to solar electricity reduces the resort’s carbon footprint while continuing to provide visitors with an exceptional guest experience.

(Cape Elizabeth, ME.) October 6, 2023- Inn by the Sea is now exclusively powered by renewable, clean energy for the hotel’s electrical needs, announced Michael Briggs, Managing Director of the luxurious beach front resort located above sandy Crescent Beach, just 7 miles south of Portland, Maine. 100% of the Inn’s electricity is now sourced from a NEXAMP community solar farm located in South Thomaston, Maine. The addition of local solar power is seen by the Inn staff as yet another significant step towards sustainability and environmental responsibility at the property.

“This new initiative aligns perfectly with our long-held values and our membership in the Beyond Green community,” stated Briggs.  “Using renewable, clean energy emphasizes our commitment to high level goals for a greener future. This transition to a natural power source will have a positive impact on the planet while we continue to provide visitors with an exceptional guest experience.”

Inn by the Sea’s approach to hospitality is inspired by its pristine surroundings on the coast of Maine. The seaside resort has long minimized the impacts of hotel operations with eco-friendly initiatives and habitat restoration and shared the soul of its location with guests through an appreciation of all things local. The hotel supports the region with intentional community collaborations with local growers, vendors, artisans and not-for-profits. Inn by the Sea is a member of Beyond Green , a small global portfolio of Planet Earth’s most sustainable lodges, hotels and resorts. This curated hotel collection is committed to meeting global sustainable standards while offering guests authentic experiences and adventures that adhere to responsible travel values and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

“By making this change, Inn by the Sea is not only reducing its carbon footprint but is also supporting the growth of renewable and clean energy sources in Maine and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable world for future generations," said Briggs.
