Maine's Inn by the Sea Receives Preferred Hotels & Resorts Award

Cape Elizabeth, Maine- May 14, 2018. Maine's Inn by the Sea was recognized by Preferred Hotels & Resorts® with a GIFTTS Pineapple Award presented to the Inn's General Manager, Michael Briggs, at the Preferred Global Conference in San Diego, California on May 4, 2018.

Every year Preferred Hotels & Resorts® recognizes member hotels that have demonstrated excellence in their commitment to inspiring experiences for their guests and local communities. Preferred Hotels & Resorts represents more than 700 properties in 85 countries and is the largest independent hotel brand in the world.

"These winners, along with other nominated member hotels, exemplify the core of hospitality and prove that every effort can have a big impact on our industry's footprint," said Preferred CEO Lindsey Ueberroth.

The GIFTTS Pineapple Award winners, according to Preferred, are given to member hotels that exhibit a commitment to philanthropy, community, sustainability and education. Inn by the Sea was awarded the Education GIFTTS recognition for guest and student programs around sustainability, preservation of local environments, and working with schools on community projects such as the Inn's Books for a Booking program every December.

Whether helping guests to understand beach ecology on beach walks, viewing watchable wildlife on guided tours around Great Pond, collecting warm clothes with the help of students for less fortunate neighbors, serving lesser known but abundant seafood fresh from the Gulf of Maine in Sea Glass restaurant, or hoping to instill a love of reading through the purchase of new books for schools, Inn by the Sea aspires to educate through creative and sometimes whimsical programming.
