For Immediate Release……
A Gift that Gives Back
Inn by the Sea partners with G.R.A.C.E., the Cape Coalition & local schools to collect warm mittens, hats and scarves- and offers gift certificates as thanks for all Giving Tree donations
Cape Elizabeth Maine…..December 2, 2009. A Giving Tree adorns the fireplace lounge at Inn by the Sea, brightly trimmed with student decorations enticing local residents, hotel staff and guests to make a generous trade this holiday season- to exchange a student ornament for warm mittens , scarves and hats for community members in need. Anyone who selects an ornament and returns with the suggested donation receives a $20 gift certificate as thanks for their generosity. The certificates are good toward SPA services or dining in Sea Glass at Inn by the Sea, and are valid January 2 through June 30, 2010.
The ornaments on the tree were whimsically created by the Cape Coalition, a Cape Elizabeth group of adults and high school students who work on community projects, and South Portland students from Mahoney and Memorial’s REACH program. Project G.R.A.C.E. , (Granting Resources and Assistance through Community Effort), a Scarborough based agency that provides assistance to residents of Southern Maine, will distribute the gloves, hats, and scarves to food banks, schools and Preble Street Chapel over the winter.
“Minutes after the tree was up and decorated with the wonderful student ornaments, a hotel guest went out and shopped for 8 sets of woolen mittens,” stated Sara Masterson, General Manager at Inn by the Sea. “People really enjoy getting into the spirit of giving, especially around the holidays. Inn by the Sea is delighted to be working with the Cape Coalition, Mahoney and Memorial Middle School students and Project G.R.A.C.E. in this community effort.”
