Pamper Mom on Mother's Day with a Handmade Scrub

Pamper Mom on Mother’s Day with a Handmade Scrub SPA Manager at Inn by the Sea offers simple recipe to spoil Mom on NECN Cable News

Cape Elizabeth, Maine, April 6, 2009………Inn by the Sea’s SPA manager, Malina Payne, appeared on NECN cable news to demonstrate how simple it can be to make a delicious body scrub as a gift for Mom on Mother’s Day. The Relaxing Ginger and Green Tea Sugar Scrub scrub was put together in minutes and consisted of inexpensive items commonly found in most kitchens.  See the news piece at  http://www.necn.com/05/05/10/Homemade-spa-recipes-for-Mothers-Day-/landing_health.html?blockID=229222&feedID=4210

The simple  ingredients consist of 1 cup of sugar, white or brown, the contents of 2 green tea bags, 2 teaspoons of fresh ginger pressed through a garlic press, 6 teaspoons of Olive or Grape Seed oil to saturate the mixture. For a more aggressive scrub sea salt can be used in place of sugar, and vanilla can also be added for scent. After the mixture is made Malina suggested it be placed in a decorated glass jar to add a festive touch.

Part of a multi million dollar renovation completed in 2008 at Inn by the Sea, the distinctive new Spa features separate mens’ and women’s sanctuaries, ringed by treatment rooms, lockers appointed with robe and slippers, private steam rooms, experience showers, lush amenities and a variety of therapies from facials to massage. A suite for two includes an oversized soaking tub and side-by-side treatment tables.

In step with the Inn’s commitment to preserving the environment the spa was built to silver LEEDs specification and has many green design features including recycled sheet rock and studs, recycled rubber floors in the cardio room, and healthy low VOC wall coverings and sealants. Guests are wrapped in bamboo towels, surrounded by indigenous landscape and personalized therapies reflect the natural coastal surroundings.

The spa’s signature treatments overseen by Payne, include a Sea Waves massage complemented by surf surround sound, a sleep inducing Deep Sea Soother, or Ocean & Oxygen Facials to super hydrate skin with ocean based enzymes to offer guests a distinguishing Maine coast experience with a connection to the sea.
