Chef Kaldrovich of Sea Glass Nominated as one of Maine's Best Farm to Table Chefs
Cape Elizabeth, August 24, 2011……….Just nominated as one of Maine’s best farm to table chefs, Chef Mitchell Kaldrovich has been celebrating Maine fare since he opened the ocean view Sea Glass restaurant at Inn by the Sea in 2008. Kaldrovich is honored to have been selected as a contender for Top of the Crop- Best Farm to Fork Chef competition to be held at Portland’s food and wine festival, Harvest on the Harbor, October 20-23, 2011.
Restaurants from all over Maine were selected by a group of farmers, farm distributors and food writers as having chefs who consistently used fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create their menus. That long list was narrowed to just 14 chefs.
A panel of esteemed foodie judges will choose three finalists, while the fourth finalist will be chosen by the public.
The final event, hosted by Clarke Frasier and Mark Gaier, will be a cook off using pre selected local ingredients and judged by an esteemed panel of foodies for the title of Top of the Crop- Maine’s Best Farm to Fork Chef.
Sea Glass Chef Kaldrovich will also be serving up unexpected flavors at Harvest on the Harbor’s Seafood Splash on Thursday October 20, 2011 at noon. Seasoned fishermen and four renowned Portland chefs have joined forces to entice seafood lovers with creations that utilize lesser known, underutilized seafood from the Gulf of Maine. Working with the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, these local fishermen and trendy Portland chefs have identified delectable but underappreciated seafood fresh from Maine’s cold, coastal waters. They will share unique cooking tips, delicious tastings and recipes around some lesser known, but perfectly delectable local seafood.
