A Gift that Gives Back
Inn by the Sea partners with G.R.A.C.E., local schools & Thatcher Brook Center to collect clothing and school books
Cape Elizabeth Maine…..November 15, 2011. A brightly decorated Giving Tree graces the fireplace lounge at Inn by the Sea, now through New Year’s, trimmed with paper decorations made by local students and Thatcher Brook Center members. Inn guests and the community are invited to exchange warm mittens, scarves, hats or Chap Stick for the students’ handmade ornaments to help less fortunate neighbors. Visitors may also buy $10 book marks decorated by Skillin School students to purchase books for the school’s reading club.
In appreciation for the generous exchange, Inn by the Sea will issue a $20 gift certificate* to each donor.
The warm clothes collected will be distributed to food banks, schools, and Preble Street Chapel by Mary Rollo and project G.R.A.C.E. (Granting Resources and Assistance through Community Effort), a Scarborough based agency that provides assistance to residents of Southern Maine.
State Representative Jane Eberle worked with Inn by the Sea to team up with students from Memorial Middle School’s REACH program and Builder’s Club , 3rd grade students at Brown Elementary School, 5th grade students from Skillin School and members of Biddeford’s Thatcher Brook Center to hand craft ornaments for the Tree.
“The staff and guests at Inn by the Sea appreciate this opportunity to work with State Representative Jane Eberle, Project G.R.A.C.E. and local students during the holiday season,” stated Sara Masterson, General Manger at Inn by the Sea. “Our guests really enjoy giving back to the region where they vacation in such a personal way.”
(*Gift certificates are for $20, valid in the SPA or Sea Glass at Inn by the Sea- Jan 2 - June 10, 2012.)
