Cape Elizabeth Artist Bill Barton Summer Show in Sea Glass
Artist’s Reception at Sea Glass at Inn by theSea June 7, 2012 5PM to 7PM
April 30, 2012….Cape Elizabeth artist Bill Barton will hang a solo exhibition at Inn by the Sea this summer in the inn’s Sea Glass restaurant, beginning June 1, 2012. Barton draws inspiration from the Maine seacoast and local harbors.
Barton began his artistic career in photography, working as a free-lance still photographer and then a video photographer for various news stations in New England. He picked up a paintbrush again in 1985 when he became inspired by the architecture of Portland’s Old Port and the Maine seacoast.
He has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions and juried shows, including the Wet Paint, Cape Elizabeth Land Trust auction.He was awarded a highly covetred spot in the Center for Maine Contemporary Art's 2010 biennial juried show, where he was one of only 41 artists accepted out of more than 650 submissions.
Barton is a 1974 graduate of Montclair State University, where he received his B.A. in Fine Arts. Barton lives in Cape Elizabeth, Maine with his wife and has two grown children.
Inn by the Sea hosts solo exhibitions of local artists all year long in Sea Glass in an ongoing celebration of all things local.
