Inn by the Sea's New Fall Seascapes Package
Celebrates Winslow Homer in Maine
Cape Elizabeth, Maine. August 15, 2012 -- Inn by the Sea, Maine's premier luxury beach destination on scenic Cape Elizabeth, has a coastal view that has inspired artists for generations. But no one has captured the Maine coastline and the hypnotic Atlantic Ocean vistas better than the legendary American artist Winslow Homer (1836-1910), who lived and painted just five miles away for a quarter of a century.
The Winslow Homer Studio on Prout's Neck is where Homer painted many of his masterpieces. Purchased by the Portland Museum of Art in 2006, the renovated Studio will open in September for private tours. The museum will also unveil an exhibit, Weatherbeaten: Winslow Homer and Maine, which comprises more than 35 major oils and watercolors painted during Homer's tenure in his Studio.
Inn by the Sea is bringing Winslow Homer's vision to their guests this Fall with the new Seascapes Package available staring September 22nd, 2012. Seascapes includes two autumn nights at Inn by the Sea and tickets to view Weatherbeaten: Winslow Homer and Maine, at the Portland Museum of Art. This groundbreaking new exhibition will cover the life of America's preeminent artist, and the major oils and watercolors Homer painted while living on the Maine coast. Many of these paintings have not been exhibited in Maine for more than a generation.
