'Tis the season...for engagements!
Engagement season is on! From Thanksgiving to Valentines Day the holidays are the most popular time to pop the question. And for everyone who said yes, it's time to start planning how you are going to celebrate true love. The new year will usher in a wealth of fresh wedding ideas from food to flowers and Inn by the Sea's wedding and social planners share insight into what they already see trending for the upcoming wedding season so you can celebrate in style.
Decor & flowers: Relaxed elegance with greenery and garlands bringing nature inside, with a natural back drop and organic vibe, often replacing traditional flower arrangements. At Inn by the Sea we expect to see a seamless transition from seaside lawn reception to table greenery in tents or inside function spaces.
Starters and Entrees: Sit down meals for weddings, large and small, remain popular but couples are straying from a full menu of classic staples to being selective with the food they offer. Personalization is key. The addition of special courses or a food station with unique offerings such as an oyster bar, or unexpected taco stand reflect the tastes of the bride or groom. Couples might also request a custom cocktail that holds special significance to them through both ingredients and name.
Place cards offer more than a table number: Couples are opting to do more with whimsical place markers that have meaning , or support the sense of place or season. Everything from tiny pumpkins for fall in New England, to local food such as small bottles of Maple Syrup, to gifts with an emotional tie show couples are putting a lot of thought into getting their guests to the right table.
